Day #47-Who invited the snow back? Miles hiked: 19.7

It was sad to leave Salida, so we took our sweet time. This town has been so good to us, but not nearly as good to us as a wonderful couple I met at the pizza place a few days ago. They gave me their number and came down to town just to drive me and my crew back up to the pass!

As per usual, we found some other hikers thumbing my rides on the way up. We all have ULA packs, so took a picture for the owner of the company. Thanks for the bags!

After leaving Monarch pass after noon, we had our work cut out for us. However, the S-N-O-W found us again…

This made the going slow again, but that comes with the territory of this state. Nonetheless, we still managed to put in a solid amount of miles.

Also, we found Hurricane (the kiwi we bar-crawled with in New Mexico)! It’s amazing how folks seem to disappear and they suddenly appear again out of nowhere. It was good to catch up on the last several hundred miles of adventure.

Goodnight from a relatively dry campsite!
