Day #48-Ridges and climbs and snow slogging. Miles hiked: 24.9

Not much to report today…twas what is at this point a typical day in Colorado. We got up at 6, stepped in a freezing cold creek before the sun was up, and slogged through snow over the first pass.

The rest of the day was 3-4 more passes with well over 6000 ft of total vertical gain. It’s amazing to think that I threw up after a climb a quarter of this size a month ago. Now, it’s just a day in the life.

After a hard day’s hike, Gusha and Mushka always “crotch pot” their dinners. In other words, they don’t cook, but they put food and water in a bag and warm it up in their pants. I also don’t cook, but haven’t quite gotten on this level yet. It’s coming soon…

Goodnight from the only dry spot we’ve seen all day!
