Day #31 (88)-Setting up for a cirqus. Miles hiked: 23.5

This morning started with a short but tricky few miles of walking back up to the CDT. In hiker world, it’s easy to tell where weekend and dayhikers go as those trails tend to be better maintained. Lesser utilized trails usually have quite a few blowdowns of dead trees, or jungle gyms for hikers that take a lot of time to navigate.

After we rejoined the CDT, it was also time for a good old fashioned “reset” dry, or hiker yard sale in a lovely meadow.

Besides one pass, the terrain was fairly moderate today with rolling meadows, dozens of lakes, and plenty of river fords that gave me the gift of constantly wet feet.

I lost count of the lakes in the Winds days ago…feels like there’s a new one every half mile, wow!

By the evening views of the Cirque of the Towers, one of the most well-known alternate adventures on the CDT in the Winds, came into view. I was so happy to see the cirque that I decided to cowboy camp and gaze up at it…until unpredicted lightning started and the heavens opened. Whoops.
