Day #30 (87)-Up for another round of the Winds. Miles hiked: 12ish

Pinedale has been good to us, so we spent plenty of time loitering around this morning doing hiker things: eating, sending things home via snail mail, and of course walking through town with boxes of food strapped to our packs.

There are a lot of “big” moments on a thru hike-amazing views, crossing state lines, etc. However, the ones I miss the most once a hike is over are the little ones like these.

Speaking of little moments, thank you to Ridge who wasn’t even going up to the pass but saw us trying to hitch a ride and circled back to take us up the mountain anyway. We also picked up an entire truckload of hikers along the way!

Since Pinedale was a side quest, we didn’t even make it back up to the official CDT by the end of the day, but enjoyed countless lakes and meadows before reaching the mountains on the journey back.

Goodnight from a wide open sky full of shooting stars. Oh, it’s also getting cold!

Colorado spared nothing on me last night with a hard freeze and plenty of wind, but I was excited for my last CDT sunrise this hike nonethel...
