First up this morning was Chinese Wall, a 12 mile long rock formation that was larger than life!
By 10 am, Freewalker’s phone screen was still frozen so we decided to put it in drive and hike the 20 miles to a possible town. The trail descended into miles and miles of dense Bob Marshall forest that brings peace to my heart.
About 10 miles out of town, I started to encounter some visitors! The 20 or so horses and mules headed into the backcountry made me smile and think of my grandmother who passed this year who loved to trail ride. Nana I bet you smiled remembering all of your adventures!
Wide open spaces of Montana lead us out of the Bob (for now).
No less than 1.5 hours for a local from Augusta, MT to rescue us from a remote trailhead and we’re back to hot food and sleeping in the parking lot of a motel with no vacancy.
Goodnight from some small town hospitality!
