Day #7 (70)-AT throwback and a flat tire. Miles hiked: 23.7

Hiker news alert: it rained last night! With fires across the state, t’was music to my ears as I laid in my nice dry tent. That also meant I got to be sopping wet for the first 10 miles today pushing through wet overgrowth. As much as I’m not a huge fan of wet shoes and clothes, it did bring back sweet memories of my first long hike.

Entry into the Bob Marshall Wilderness also occurred, but was slightly anticlimactic as the sign was in pieces on the ground.

Most of the day was rolling trail in and out of burn areas with the mosaic of different forest growth stages they provide.

Also, update on Sydney fire we passed: trail is closed as of today!

By days end, my body’s engine light went on with my first pain that exceeded that which is expected with high mileage days off the couch. Out of an abundance of caution, Freewalker and I decided to tape it, NSAID it, and call it early on hiking as we were right at a beautiful campsite near a river.
