Day #9-On the road again. Miles hiked: 8.0

After making camp at a local coffee shop to finish my final presentation for my masters class, it was time to get back on my feet again.

We also decided to start the day off right with margarita popsicles at the hostel.

But we couldn’t leave town without one last visit to the taco food truck, thanks to a lovely suggestion from a professional and personal mentor of mine who used to live and practice medicine here.

Most of the 8 miles out of town were on the sidewalk/road; thanks to these folks for leaving some encouraging notes for hikers!

Overall, my feet are doing better (pics by personal request), but they are definitely not 100%. Tomorrow we start the “Gila Alternate” route which will take us across the Gila river almost 200 times over the next 100 miles, so feet better heal before they get wet!

  1. It seems really weird to me that all those water crossings didn't create additional blister problems. My feet always felt refreshed in the water, and the galumphing along in wet socks in between didn't hurt a bit. Weird, yeah?
