Day #26-Up, up, and away. Miles hiked: 24.7

We had to stick around town this morning to wait until the post office opened, but that just meant another trip to the diner. Yes, I am now ordering two meals at every sitting and finishing every last bite.

The post office brought a very wonderful treat-new shoes! After 500 miles, my old pair was on the brink of splitting open and devoid of support. Thanks to Dr. Michelle for these brand new beauties arriving on time!

After all of the shoe shenanigans, it was time to head into Santa Fe National Forest and the San Pedro Wilderness. About halfway into the 4K ft climb, gone was the red sand of the desert and water started cascading on all sides of the trail into alpine meadows and lakes.

We even found our first snow right after the first raindrops of the entire hike. It was one clap of thunder and just some mist, but a milestone nonetheless.
