Day #12 (75)-Escapegoating the Scapegoat. Miles hiked: 31.5

Today was a marathon of both miles and decisions. We started the day with a lovely, well-graded 2500 ft climb that quickly turned into a Colorado and White Mtn NH deja vu. By the time we reached treeline, I’d estimate a good 50 mph sustained winds with 70 mph gusts. It was enough to knock me over and start looking for an alternate.

Alternate located we descended into a creek bed and watched the wind whip clouds across the peak where the trail is. Added miles worth it to me!

Once we climbed back up to the CDT it really did feel like walking straight down the middle
of the Divide.

The wind had died down but Freewalker still wanted nothing to do with finishing the day on trail, thus began alternate #2 down a trail and a road to pop out near Lincoln, MT. This man really likes to eat town food so Goodnight from the Lincoln Logs hotel. Back to trail at least for me tomorrow!

Ps-I had a reunion with my cow friends!
